Breast Implants
For today, there are many procedures that are being tried and are being tested effectively. One of these is the breast implant. Breast implants are prosthesis devices that are medically tested. These breast implants are used to correct the deformities particularly in the form, shape and size of women’s breasts. For many years, breast implants are being done by the surgeons because of the desires of the patients.
What Are The Types Of Breast Implants?
There are three major types of breast implants. These are the following:
1. Saline Implants – This type of breast implants are devices which have elastomer silicones. These silicone shells are filled with saline solution (sterile) or mostly known as salt water. This saline solution is biologically concentrated. Also, these are implanted beneath the patient’s tissues.
2. Silicone Implants – This type of breast implants includes elastomer silicones which are being filled with sticky silicone gel before performing the surgery. These breast implants are available in different sizes depending on the desired measurement of augmentation.
3. Alternative Composition – These breast implants are being defined through the composite filler material. Alternative implants contain miscellaneous fillers. However, these breast implants are no longer present and available because manufacturers stopped producing them.
Who Usually Undergo Breast Implants?
As reported, most of the young women who are not contented with their appearance particularly in their breasts’ size and form usually undergo breast implants. Because of the feeling of rejection and consciousness as well as insecurity, young women think of breast implants as their own way to solve their problems. However, women who suffer from cancer cases especially from breast cancer are not advised to undergo breast implants. This is also true in the case of women with body infections. This is just for their own safety and survival.
How Much Do Breast Implants Cost?
Just like any plastic surgery methods and procedures, breast implants have cost which varies depending on the location. Aside from this, the qualifications of the doctor and the type of device to be used are being considered in naming the price of breast implants. According to a research, the usual average cost of breast implants is between $5000 and $10,000 which is obviously expensive. This price already includes the professional fee (for the doctor). However, the patient must be aware that medical insurance does not cover the breast implants.
How Do Breast Implants Performed?
Before performing breast implants procedures, the doctor must be sure that the patients have ages of at least 18 or at least 22 for them to undergo saline implants or silicone implants respectively. This is required by the FDA since women’s breasts can still develop until their early 20’s. This is an important point to be considered for the safety of the patients as well as to the reputation of the surgeon in case of misleading situations.
The patients must also have a regular consultation with their doctors before the breast implants. This will be necessary to evaluate the medical condition of the patients. The doctors may approve or reject the scheduled procedure if the patients’ health will be at risk because of the breast implants. Of course, this is the responsibility of the surgeons for the sake of the both parties involved.
During the procedure of breast implants, the patients will be given anaesthesia to relieve the pain brought by the surgery. The exact location where the breast implants will be inserted depends on the patients’ bodies, the measurement of enlargement to be done and the type of breast implants to be used. Breast implants may be inserted either above or under the muscles of the chest, wherever the best location is. After the incision, the doctor will then close the marks of surgery through surgical tapes. Breast implants is usually performed for an hour or for a maximum of two hours.
For How Long Do Breast Implants Last?
As a matter of fact, the incision of breast implants will not last for a lifetime. The life of breast implants will depend on the condition of the patients. If there are complications and constant changes in the breasts’ sizes, there will be a need to replace the breast implants. The patients will always have the option of when to remove or replace their breast implants.
What Are The Possible Consequences Of Having Breast Implants?
For every decision made, there will always be possible consequences. The most important thing that the patients must always think before undergoing the insertion of breast implants is to choose the trusted and skilful doctors. This is because their safety will depend on the way on how the doctor performs the procedure. Breast implants can be the cause of severe pain on the part of the patients especially if there are mistakes that are committed during the procedures. The patients’ health may be at risk if there will be no right and proper performance of breast implants.
